# Rise of the machines, part N: Robot monkey brains

The Toronto Star reported today that scientists in Japan succeeded in controlling a humanoid robot by signals sent across the internet from the brain of a monkey running on a treadmill in the US. Here’s a link to the story [from a different source](http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/01/17/2140336.htm).

Apart from hitting a surprising number of SDMB clichés, this story shows that we are even closer than expected tio having our own personal Robot Monkey Butlers.
