Ugh, very little information there. In searching for more, I’ve come across very little:

An ABC Austrailia [article](http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/s1453189.htm) with a bit more on another project by the same person.  
The [Robot Science Laboratory](http://www.rs.cs.meiji.ac.jp/) at Meiji University Computer Science web page (in Japanese, which I can’t read).  
The SpringerLink [abstract and reference](http://www.springerlink.com/(tqa1xc451rsdmx45zqoz5a55)/app/home/contribution.asp?referrer=parent&backto=issue,17,118;journal,292,2332;linkingpublicationresults,1:105633,1) for the paper in IEEE Transactions in Computer Science.

Not much accessible, all in all. If I get a chance to read the paper, perhaps I’ll post an executive summary…
