> Ah, the nomad strategy. I’ve used that to good effect in a few games, but it does leave you vulnerable if anyone decides that you’re a threat after all. And you’re going to need to start taking continents eventually.

It could be I’m playing against people who don’t give the game as much thought as I do.

I don’t know where it came from, but there seems to be a mindset that australia = win. The first four players to place all cast their single army into australia than glare each other down. The “winner” of this confrontation usually takes such a hit to their army (10+) that it takes at least five turns to regain the loss. In the meantime they are quite limited in their advance. If they push too far into Asia trying to get cards they open the channel up to a blitz than ruins the gain.

I see a lot of games end with someone conquering the west than sitting on it while Australia guy throws himself against whatever is left in the middle. Soon after it is cleanup in aisle Saim.

Anyone know of a good computer Risk program?

…also, anyone searching Google on my behalf, be careful. I’m looking and so far have found a lot of viruses posing as Risk.

Australia can be good if there are enough players that you can kind of hunker down out of sight and let them slaughter each other.
