It could be I’m playing against people who don’t give the game as much thought as I do.
I don’t know where it came from, but there seems to be a mindset that australia = win. The first four players to place all cast their single army into australia than glare each other down. The “winner” of this confrontation usually takes such a hit to their army (10+) that it takes at least five turns to regain the loss. In the meantime they are quite limited in their advance. If they push too far into Asia trying to get cards they open the channel up to a blitz than ruins the gain.
I see a lot of games end with someone conquering the west than sitting on it while Australia guy throws himself against whatever is left in the middle. Soon after it is cleanup in aisle Saim.
Anyone know of a good computer Risk program?
