I got the new RISK anniversary edition for my birthday (with the metal pieces) and it rocks. We play A LOT. Usually at 2:00 AM (gee, how’d you guess I’m in college?)
We say hilarious things too, as BobSchroeck mentkioned.
Something that is always said, at least ten times per game, is (thank you Seinfeld)
“The Ukraine is weak!”
“The Ukraine is not weak, the Ukraine is string!”
My friends & I used to play Risk combined with a cool card game called Nuclear War.
It has been a long time but IIRC, you could either move troops or advance your nuclear agenda by one step. Also included in the Nuclear War deck of cards was the dreaded SuperGerm biological warfare agent.
Looking more carefully at the Nuclear War site, I see they have added Nuclear Escallation and Nuclear Proliferation expansion sets. These sets bring the devastation “up to date” with cruise missles, MX missles, patriot anti-missles, stealth fighters, spies & space platforms. I may have to get back into this…
- risk computer game -
I got a kickass shareware game from download.com called Missonrisk - copies Risk the boardgame (and maybe the computer game, I haven’t tried the “official” version). Once you purchase the game - for 12 bucks, I think - you can play online. Otherwise, its you against the computer or other people. The AI is pretty strong if computer players are set on “smart”; otherwise, you blow right through the game. Also, if you don’t purchase the game after a month, you can’t use the smart computer players, just the average ones. A bunch of friends have downloaded it and absolutely love it but we haven’t played online yet.
