> I bought what must be my first can of Ro-tel, with habaneros, after reading this thread. I’m not sure what to do with it. I’m not really into queso. Could it serve as a stand alone salsa?

Hmm, I think it would lack the vinegar that I’d normally expect from a salsa of that kind.

However, I’d imagine it’d make a nice spicy salsa if you dressed it up some.

Also, they’re generally mixed to have a generally consistent level of heat. Fresh chilies can vary greatly, as can other producers’ idea of “hot”.

(No, I know how to use multi-quote, I’m just scatterbrained today)

> I see top google hits with both [fresh tortilla strips](https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a51825/best-slow-cooker-chicken-tortilla-soup-recipe/) and [crushed corn chips.](https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/13351/chicken-tortilla-soup-i/). Which should I go for?

We use tortilla strips. Don’t even need fresh - the local megamart will have bags of them with the wonton strips as salad toppings.
