Odd, I did it because it amused me at the time. No other audience intended, really. Though, it would make for ease in finding my car in parking lots at the time, too. ---

I mean, it can’t possibly be that you find it amusing doing a bit self expression because of the reactions you imagine that come from other people. If you did it simply to amuse YOURSELF, why don’t you put the stickers on the dashboard? No, I think there are alterior reasons. Gothic dude/chica: I hate it when people stare at me, I am wearing fishnet, white and black makeup with my hair sticking out in all directions and I do it just to amuse myself, it pisses me off when I **purposely dress to shock others and stick out** and people notice me and look and make comments. But I really just dress to amuse myself. Yeah… ---

At least when you have your political/religous/educational affiliations on you car, I can predict what type of idiot driving stunt you are going to attempt. Jesus fish=I will pass fast on the right and cut right in front of you so I can slow down to pass this semi Environmental stickers=close the air intake ‘cause you are gonna be suckin’ my burning oil fumes Oh how I wish more people would do a better job of actually representing the groups they are trying to represent! ---

Oh, in regard to my last post: I don’t think self expression or expressing Identity (both synonymous with expressing idividuality AFAIK) is a bad thing at all, nor do I think anybody that does identifies with a group is in any way shape or form a negative or bad thing. It is good. However, it is extremely disingenuos to deny that are the reasons behind dressing certain ways, expressing certain opinions or whatever. Especially when the stock answer is “I do it because I think it is amusing.” Sure, keep telling yourself that. ---

Around here, hardly any of the Bush supporters have removed their stickers. I keep mine on to balance that out. Plus there’s this HUGE sign down one of the main roads near my house that has the Bush/Cheney logo on it. When I see no more propaganda, mine will be removed as well. I had 3 stickers on my car, now I only have one. One fell off (I tape them to the inside so no one can rip them off), and the other was a Kerry/Edwards sticker that I took off about a week after the election. A couple days after the election, I was heading back to work from picking up lunch and this individual in a pickup truck was next to me in traffic. He had one of those ugly window sticker/shade things of the flag and an eagle (do you forget what country you live in?) and I think he had one of those W stickers as well. He saw my stickers, rolled down his window and did one of those horrendous “YEE-HAWW!” cackles. I just stepped on the gas and got away from that lunatic real quick. With characters like that (on BOTH sides BTW), you can never be too careful. ---

As a mom, the salient point in this story for me is that she had her kids in the car. It is very obvious to even the casual observer that I have two car seats in the back of my vehicle, so I am assuming this guy could see her kids (they aren’t babies or anything). He is a fucking maniac who should get very familiar with the inside of a jail cell. But then again, since I started driving kids around, I have cut way back on my use of the finger as a communication device. Around here, that could get you shot at or something. If something like this had happened to me with my kids in the car, when that guy got our and started running towards me I might have floored it. ---

Gah. This is why I haven’t had a bumper sticker on any of my cars since the Pink Floyd Prism on my '82 Pontiac Sunbird. Idiots know no bounds…not even political ones. They are evenly distributed like weeds in the desert after two months of rain…(that’s all we see out here in the high desert of California now.) ---
