While Clinton won 2 senatorial elections, she didn’t serve 2 terms, as she served only 8 years as senator, being appointed Sec of State in 2009.
That’s worth almost 2.5 Palin Units.
Meryl Streep paid tribute to Hillary’s qualities a year ago. Worth watching by any open-minded person doubting that Hillary is inspirational.
Bringing back the zombie thread from so long ago that I casually referred to Jeb Bush as the smart one, prompting Jonathan Chance to refer to him as “top tier”.
::tumbleweeds::
The point is, just like nobody raised an eyebrow at that then, none of us thought to mention former mayor Bernie Sanders, who’s now been a Senator for nine years after serving in the House of Representatives for sixteen years; and none of us thought to mention John Kasich, who spent eighteen years in Congress and is currently in his sixth year as Governor; who’d have thunk they’d be out winning delegates?
Her resume is quite good but hardly the best ever. Sorry, Mr. Reiner, but you sound like a meathead with that one.
You know you posted in this thread before it got resurrected, right? ![]()
At that, Bob Dole probably should’ve gotten an explicit rundown the first time around: the military officer turned county attorney spent eight years in Congress before spending decades as a Senator before running for President in '96.
Oh yeah but I missed the meathead joke then.
Heh.
So long as this is back up and running, shouldn’t Kerry and McCain’s candidacies have gotten discussed? One was a guy named John who served as a military officer before getting elected to the Senate in the '80s, before getting re-elected in the '90s, before getting *re-*re-elected in the '90s, before getting re-re-*re-*elected in the '00s, before eventually running for President, and – well, so was the other guy.
One was in the House of Representatives while the other was Lieutenant Governor, but that’s hardly the point.
It’s strange because I can remember way back when Sanders was the Mayor of Burlington, Vermont. It certainly never would have occurred to me back then that he would someday be a leading Presidential candidate.
But if you’d said back then that a Jew and a woman would be neck-and-neck in the race to follow a black commander-in-chief – all of whom agree that our openly gay soldiers of course have the right to get married – I would’ve replied, sure, but which one polls better against the GOP’s leading Latino candidates for president?
(“Ronald REAGAN? The ACTOR? Ha! Then who’s vice-president, Jerry LEWIS?”)
I think that it’s only fair to leave off the 'whom she was married to" aspect of your post. By that qualification, Barbara Bush is 40% as qualified as Hillary, not to mention being a mother to a President…
Strange utterances by Rob Reiner are nothing new.
