Robbed by Wells Fargo.

But does your credit union have a cool stagecoach?

Ya know, I want a bank/credit union with a chuckwagon. I’m dead serious. I’d open a money market account for just a cup of cowboy coffee and a tin plate of beans.

Tripler
The place would never get robbed if the clientele all wore wheelguns, too.

For 20+ years, I did IS/IT/Whatever consulting, almost all financial - and, living in SF, much of that was WFB. Damned, those folks came up with creative ways to ding you. Around 1990, I closed all y accounts with them. As I was withdrawing it, the teller scribbled a bit, and entered a new number.
"What was that? I asked politely. “Pro-rated service charge”. "Now, when you get to the part of ‘why is he leaving?’, you’ll already have your answer.

The sad part was that this had nothing do to with WFB’s being bought and new policies from above - they were making a ton of money and buying OTHERS. This was strictly internal decisions.

They were make tons nickle-and-diming their customers.

New bank:
My current (bal: $278) was hit with a levy from the State - for $42,800.
Not only did they honor that claim and hit me with overdraft on every transaction, I got the "Why didn’t you watch your account? They did refund much of the charges - that $278 was Social Security - which cannot be seized by anybody for anything.
Yo Bank! - maybe YOU should try watching that account - is you had, you’d have known it was exempt from such seizures. Finally found someone there who found their behavior reprehensible.

p.s. The 2 stagecoaches on display in SF headquarters are in serious need of repair - or, use the 1/3 size model upstairs as a template and build a new one from scratch.

410 N. Montgomery St SF CA

Not that 410 won’t get you close enough (especially if you want to eat at Subway before visiting the museum) but the address is 420 Montgomery.

Personally, I’ve been banking with Wells Fargo since 1995 when they bought 1st Interstate and don’t believe a teller has ever tried to sell me anything. I did work there for a few years (on the web side in wholesale banking) as full disclosure. I’ve never really had any problem with any of the half dozen banks major banks I’ve been with other the years. Nor have I had any problems with credit unions.

But then I’ve also never had a bad experience with United Airlines and Comcast so I may just be lucky when it comes to megacompanies.

Neither does Wells Fargo anymore.

They have some on display in San Francisco & Minneapolis, but those are old ones and non-working.

The ones that are driven in parades are actually owned & operated by subcontractors, who are not Wells Fargo employees, who pay their drivers less than minimum wage, and provide no benefits. At least the horses appear well-fed.
