I saw a raptor sitting on a fence the other day. There are lots of _Haliaeetus leucocephalus_ around here, but this wasn’t one of them. Could’ve been a merlin, I suppose; but I’m not schooled in such things. I just refer to them collectively as raptors. ---

I have seen the roboraptor and lusted for one. You know what would be cool? If your little kid misbehaves, you tape that laser tracker on him and set the roboraptor to “hunt”. Hilarity and nightmares ensue. ---

My son got one of these for his birthday in November. He played with it for about 2 weeks and it has been under his bed, forgotten, ever since. It’s a noisy toy, for sure. Also, it doesn’t go from flat floor to carpeting very well and falls over easily when it tries to get onto the carpeting. Oh yeah… One other thing. It TOTALLY FREAKS out my 2 yr old daughter. She thinks it is acutally a montser. That right there makes it worth it. 😃 ---

My husband has last year’s model of Robosapien… quite a character, that guy. I bought my father a Robopet for his birthday this month, have to ship it out soon. Roboraptor looks friggin’ cool. And I, also, would like to know what the heck makes Robosapien II so expensive. I’ve never seen one work… ---

If the best the commercial can do to showcase it is show the three modes that all look the same “wobbly unstable wiggly head mode!!!” I don’t think it’s got, as it were, legs. ---

My daughter wants one of these for Christmas. They’re even for sale here for $109. But I don’t know… This strikes me as the kind of toy that’s really cool to watch and play with - for about an hour. Then it’ll be a $100 paperweight. We got her a robot dog called ‘Boomer 2.0’ last year. It’s pretty neat. It does some tricks, plays with its ball, has moods, etc. She hasn’t touched it in months. ---

Ooh, someone else has seen these things. I played with one of these in a department store (Marks & Spencer, for the Brits) the other day! Lots of walking around slowly and turning its head on one side to look menacing. I managed to accidentally send it over the edge of its display stand and only just caught it by the neck in a swift and dextrous manoeuvre that elicited only slight tutting from the sales clerk. If I were 12 I would love it for at least three days! Question is, should I get one for my 8-year-old nephew/godson for Christmas, and if so how can I engineer excluding him from playing with it until I leave? ---

Personally, I think I’d find the thing interesting for about ten minutes, and then wonder why I hadn’t spent the money on something useful like beer. ---
