We just had a thread on [Driverless F1 Cars](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=614008).
What other sports could lose the meat sacks? We already have pitching machines for Baseball. Surely some one could invent a Robo Batter? Could a CowBot ride a mechanical bull?

Golf balls are tested using a club-swinging robot (cleverly called “Iron Byron” by the USGA). Then there’s [this](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQrplfhDR-g&feature=related).
So, golf might not be too far away.

Have you seen the trailer for Real Steel, the new Hugh Jackman movie about robotic boxers? Other than reminding me a bit of Rock’em Sock’em Robots, it looks kind of cool.
