rock and roll books

If you are a fan of Joy Division, I would recommend “Touching From a Distance: Ian Curtis and Joy Division” by Ian’s widow Deborah Curtis. It’s a rather harrowing account of their life together and Ian’s gradual breakdown and suicide.

“Rotten: No Irish-No Blacks-No Dogs” is John Lydon’s autobiography. It contains not only Lydon’s opinionated view of the world but also reminiscences by his friends and family.

For Led Zeppelin fans “Stairway to Heaven: Led Zeppelin Uncensored” by former tour manager Richard Cole is an account of the band’s antics from someone who spent several years with them.

U2 at the End of the World This was written by a reporter who had almost total access to the band during the ZooTV tour. An excellent book.

Let It Blurt: The Life & Times of Lester Bangs, America’s Greatest Rock Critic - by Jim DeRogatis

Great book. Way great.
