Rock or pop songs in minor keys

Black Magic Woman

No milk Today

A song is in a key when it’s the stable home chord it resolves to.

A major chord is the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes in a major scale

A chord is minor when the 3rd note is flattened one half step (one fret or one piano key). It sounds kind of sad to western ears.

“Behind Blue Eyes”, “All Along the Watchtower”, and “My, My, Hey, Hey (Out of the Blue)” immediately come to mind.

I Won’t Back Down by Tom Petty, though possibly the verse is minor and the chorus major.
Venus by Bananarama (and someone else before them)

Van Halen - I’ll Wait

Quite a few Pink Floyd songs are in minor keys: “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” (Gm), “Comfortably Numb” (begins and ends in Bm, tho’ chorus is D), and “Another Brick in the Wall” (Dm), off the top of my head.

How about one of my all-time favorites, Badge, by Cream?

All Along the Watchtower.
