Rock song with the most effective/best crescendo?

Only if you’re referring to Tears for Fears.

I know it’s not rock but it’s mighty hard to beat the 1812 Overture. Live cannons and bells.

I’d suggest “Locomotive Breath” by Jethro Tull, but the increase in loudness is pretty close to the beginning.

IMO, Peter Frampto’s “Do you feel like I do” is one of the best “releases” of that sort.

Tool - Lateralus.

Spiral out…keep going, spiral out, KEEP GOING, SPIRAL OUT!

Honorable mention: Hallucinogen - Dark Magus

Lot’s of good stuff in this thread. I’ll nominate the full album version of Sweet’s “Love is Like Oxygen”.

Another rock-solid selection – Zebra’s “Who’s Behind the Door” (well worth checking out on youtube … Randy Jackson can bring it on vox).

Both Bjork and Regina Spektor have a way with the cresendo, although I don’t know that anyone classifies them as rock.

I want to thank devilsknew for posting Toto. I can never hear that song without getting chills. I just love sweeping music.
