This is not in any way meant to defend irredeemable ratfucker Roger Stone, but why the early morning raid? Don’t they usually let people like Stone negotiate a time to turn themselves in? I wonder if they had reason to believe he was about to flee. ---

Yeah, in general the early morning stuff is to provide surprise and disorientation on the part of the target should the FBI believe there’s evidence in the property that may be destroyed/hidden/moved should more notice be provided. Given that one of the things they’re after him for is obstruction, it shouldn’t be a surprise that they don’t want him to have time. Stone is, without a doubt, one of the worst purveyors of ‘team-based’ politics where winning, regardless of method or cost, is the goal. If burning the country to the ground meant his team won, he’d do it. ---

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Stone has been reasonably close to Trump for years, yes? Could very well be a sign of how close to the President (and, maybe more importantly, his family) the investigation has come. Don’t know if Stone counts as Trump’s “inner circle” but I think he’s awfully close to it.
