I was occasionally interested in his threads, but often his replies were way over the top. Seemed a bit touchy. That and his TMI in unexpected thread put me off my breakfast on occasion. Somethings you just shouldn’t have as a surprise over tea. ---

I am of two minds here. I am heartened to see that my take on Roland was shared–he was an odd duck. But I feel sorry for him too. I color him clueless, rather than actively malicious. I don’t see how he is gonna get thru nursing school if he cannot master psychomotor skills etc., but that is not my problem. I truly did enjoy the Ayn (Ian? heh) Rand thread, though–until he claimed to be what he wasn’t and then well, you all know… ---

There seems to be a shtick many of the banned follow: 1. Mildly amusing, in a weird sort of way. 2. Annoying 3. Astonishing 4. Defensive 5. Tiresome 6. Banned Maybe the Board needs to institute a psychological profile before we’re allowed to sign up. ---

Well considering that I think you’d have to be nuts to want to moderate this board, I think that the Psych profile might actualy assist in identifing potential Mod candidates. (I am not saying you’re all crazy, just that it seems like it would help!) 😃 ---

He was a Human Trainwreck. Perhaps this thread can be linked if anyone ever inquires over the definition of “trainwreck.” Those last few threads are just classics. Jesus, that whole Ian Rand thing just killed me. Funniest stuff I’ve read in the last six months at least. But, seriously. Something tells me **Roland** will be reading this thread. So this appeal is directed to him. In many of your past threads, people have implored you to get help. You have rebuffed this, saying it is too expensive and/or time consuming. Maybe this will be a little wakeup call. Maybe now that you have lost the ability to pour out your troubles on this message board, you will seek out the proper avenue for doing so in therapy. Your school has a counselor or someone who handles personal student affairs. It is free to go speak to them. Please do. If they feel it necessary, they will probably be able to not only refer you to other professionals (marriage counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, whatever) but help you out with this financially. You obviously have many issues, but there are plenty of people out there whose job it is to help you out with those. Seek those people out, not another anonymous message board. ---

I seem to recall that in a few posts, he said that they were not legally married, they only had the religious ceremony and never got the license (something about being on a ‘libertarian streak’, is how I think he put it). And, they lived in a state that did not have common-law marriages. I pity the kid they had (if the relationship was half as bad as Roland described it). ---

I’m sad I won’t be on the SDMB when he realizes he has Asperger’s, and posts about it. I’m sad I won’t see the post where his wife leaves him. Or cheats on him, repeatedly, just to annoy him, in front of him. Mostly, I just worry about his kid. Some people really shouldn’t be eligible for parenthood.
