So it [appears](http://www.turkishpress.com/news.asp?ID=35750) that they’ve cast Kevin Spacey in the role of Lex Luther for the new Superman movie. Thoughts? I’m in a rush right now, but I’ll say that I think he can pull it off (I adore his work), but he’s definitely what I would have originally imagined in the role. ---

I didn’t even know a new Supes movie was in the pipeline. If Batman Begins is good (and fingers crossed, it looks it) then maybe the DC Movies are on the up. As for Spacey, sounds like a good choice to me. He’s a good actor so should bring a bit of gravitas to the role. ---

I won’t stop being worried about the new Superman flick until we start hearing rumors about the plot that don’t involve Supes drowning or doing Flying Kung-Fu. ---

_raises hand_ Sorry, but I think I missed something. Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor sounds cool on the surface, but when did J.J. Abrahms stop writing the script for the new Superman movie? I know his original [got torn apart](http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=13350) by Moriarty at AICN, and caused a major flap, but he did promise to rewrite it. Meh. If the intent of the producers is to lower my expectations, they couldn’t have succeeded more than if they cast John Travolta, William H. Macy or Ed Asner.
