Rolling Stone Top 500 albums

“And When I Die” is the only song I recognize, and I’m not daft musically.

She reminds me of Joan Baez and Carole King, but I know songs by both of those, especially Carole King. I’m glad to see “Tapestry” at number 36 on the list. A truely wonderful album.

I guess we have different musical taste. I have the first 5 songs below in my collection, but I had no idea Laura Nyro wrote them. At a guess, I’m thinking you would recognize most of them if you heard them, but the titles aren’t ringing bells…

The second group of 4 I didn’t recognize by title either, but I immediately recognized all but the very last one.

Blowing Away
Wedding Bell Blues
Stoned Soul Picnic
Sweet Blindness
Save the Country
[Eli’s Comin](eli’s coming three dog night)

Black Patch
Stoney End
Time and Love
[Hands off the Man](Hands off the Man)

Do you think you’ll become a bit anxious as you tick off …994, …995, …996 …?

Years ago I read that [I want to say Ernest Hemingway, but really no idea] believed you were born with a quota of words, and that was it. Once you’d got through them, basically you had to make the last couple as witty as possible, because then you died after your last allocated word was spoken.

Oh yeah, there have been a lot more good than bad. I do have to admit though, since I am listening to most of them at work, they can become background noise. I have been making note of the ones I would like to listen to again when I am not being distracted by pesky work.

The ones I am not interested in, I kinda zone out and concentrate on my work. Oops, sometimes on those I will “forget” to pause it when I have to get up for something.

I have been able to listen to music during my work shift for years, so I just wanted something new to listen to. As far as the rankings, the numbers really don’t matter much to me. Who’s to say No. 325 is better than No. 441?
