Romney is roughly equivalent to Sec. Clinton in terms of ability- they both were the best choices to run against Obama for the top job, no? We should all be grateful if Romney gets tapped as Secretary of State. He’s competent, even if he is on “the other side” and will participate in the GOP shit show we are all about to take part in. Even if Mitt Romney becomes Secretary of State, I predict he’ll be at least as shut out of decision-making as Gen. Colin Powell was under the Cheney/Dubya administration. Apparently yesterday’s meeting went well. I’m wasn’t a Romney supporter in 2012. But he’s the best choice we can get for Secretary of State. On a personal level… I guess Mitt’s wife, Ann is doing ok? I can’t imagine him accepting secretary of state if she’s really sick. Secretary of State is a demanding job. John Kerry has been going non stop. Even a broken leg didn’t slow him down. Ann did a few interviews a year ago promoting her newest book. It’s perfectly logical to think Romney’s thought process is along the lines of “If I can get myself between Trump and the diplomats and heads of state of other countries, maybe I can stop this idiot from starting World War III.” Romney is a decent human being and has demonstrated competence in both public and private endeavors. One could do much worse. In a Trump cabinet meeting he might end up being the only respectable person in the room. ---
