Actually, Frostie is still made and available from Price Club (at least in the DC area). In fact, there’s a case of it in the office fridge. It gets my vote for best canned RB, but for bottled I’d vote either IBC or Dominion.
Yeah, so the damnation of all Barq’s lovers can’t be just a southern thing… that being mah point, hunney-chile!!
I like Dad’s brand. But I really prefer Pepsi(cherry flavored)!
Frostie in can!?!?!?! What has this world come to?
LauraLee, I getchur point, sweetcakes.

Well, I was debating with myself whether to leave this here or move it to MPSIMS. On the one hand, it is a debate, like who was the better starship captain or the better baseball player. On the other hand, there ain’t much debatin’ goin’ on, and, I mean, it’s root beer fercryingoutloud.
So, since a couple other people have brought it up, and I’m in a housecleaning mood, I’m throwing it over to MPSIMS. Have fun!

Hold the “root”, and we might have something to say…
Anyone ever try Ginger Beer?
Yes, ginger beer is glorious.
Being in the Northwest, our luvly local Beer establishments have picked up on root beer, too. I will have to go with Henry Weinhards.
I once got a case of IIRC Henry Weinhard’s rootbeer at Costco. It was terrific, a much more subtle taste than Dad’s or Hires.
“Popeye? Hm? He’s not much of a judge of women!” King Blozo
IBC, followed by Hires. Good Gawd! I haven’t had a root beer since I became old enough to drink real beer!..And suddenly, I’m very, very thirsty…
With God as my witness, I thought turkey’s could fly.
Do they still make Mug root beer?
I drink diet A&W, so I should probably stay out of this.
Catrandom
They still make Mug. Unfortunately, they also made a commercial for Mug that made me go insane.
It’s a good brand but I will never again look at a can of Mug without curling into the fetal position and jamming a thumb in my mouth.
That said, I like Barq’s, A&W, Hires, and Stewarts, with Hires coming out on top.

I don’t have an evil side. Just a really, really apathetic one.
A&W Root Beer is the only Root Beer that matters.
Of course, I’m talking about REAL A&W Root Beer here, the kind you get straight from the tap at an A&W restaurant. I’m not talking about the watered-down variety they put in aluminum cans and plastic bottles and slap an “A&W” label on. The pure stuff is stronger and sugarier, which is why I like it.
Put it in a chilled glass mug, and ooooooh, what a feeling!
GRandmother used to make root beer and have the bottles down in the part of the cellar that was for coal. It tasted wonderful.
We snuck and drank as much as we could without puking our brains out. (Get in via the coal schute window.) If it were freshly made and we were sleeping at her house, we could hear the bottle caps popping off and hitting the ceiling when the house was quiet.
After that it’s only A & W.
Oh, I’m gonna keep using these #%@&* codes 'til I get 'em right.
