Rope and other great Hitchcock movies

I’ve always been fond of To Catch a Thief. Not, perhaps, one of his most weighty efforts, but it is a charmingly unreal slice of High Life. Plus it has Grace Kelly urging Cary Grant to fondle her “diamonds”, If You Know What I Mean:

“Look, John. Hold them. Diamonds… The only thing in the world you can’t resist. Then tell me you don’t know what I’m talking about.”

I’ll join the chorus on To Catch A Thief. Fun film. Who was the actress who played the young European woman?

Brigitte Auber.

While I’m posting, I’ll finish the exchange I posted above:

*“You know as well as I do that those gems are imitation.”

“Well, I’m not”*

Rowr!

My husband and I just saw *Rope *for the first time about a month ago. We loved it! *Rear Window *is my other favorite.

I was iffy about Vertigo when I saw it for the first time, until

“I need you to be Madeleine for a while. And when it’s done, we’ll both be free.”

That’s scary.

Those are my faves too. I actually wrote a paper about Rope and the other two films inspired by the Leopold and Loeb case: Compulsion and Swoon.
