I don’t see how you could have read it that way. She said it grudgingly because was clearly pissed about her daughter’s choice but she knew she had to stand by the slogan. ---

“Corporal punishment”? “Crossed a line”? “Abuse”? :dubious: All she did was hold Harris’s head in the sink and get her soaking wet. It wasn’t waterboarding, for f\*\*k’s sake. ---

How else do you hold someone’s head in the sink and get them soaking wet? I don’t think it was “meant to be slapstick” at all. But it was FAR from corporal punishment or abuse. It didn’t come across completely wrong to me. _shrug_ ---

She holds one extreme view regarding an opposing political party, so it doesn’t surprise me at all that she would subscribe to other social views commonly found on that end of the political spectrum as well. ---
