That article about sums up what I’ve seen in my experience. Can’t recall too many people over the age of 30 wanting to throw down in bars I’ve been at - won’t say it doesn’t happen, but it’s typically a young buck who has more hormones than sense, and alcohol taking whatever sense he had left before he entered the bar.
Dude missed his chance to be on Jerry Springer, lol.
I wonder how the fad for including Red Bull in your binge drinking has changed things?
To be sure it’s probably not a fad among the biker set. But for plenty of 20-30 yos being disinhibited by alcohol while being amped up on Red Bull (or stronger illegals) is part of how best to spend a Friday night.
I have to imagine that increases their combativeness and may even increase their fighting ability vs. somebody just using alcohol alone.
Or has the whole Red Bull chaser thing kinda died out while I wasn’t paying attention?
I worked as a bouncer for a bit, but generally in the nicer venues, so I don’t recall seeing any fights that got beyond the ‘punch or two gets thrown’ level while working in any bars- the football grounds were where most of the proper fights I saw happened- and I never actually got involved further than stepping out the way of a drnuk punch thrown by someone virtually falling over before someone dragged the guy away.
When in the city centre there was basically a bouncer alarm/gossip system, so if something really kicked off, you could call in bouncers from neighbouring clubs and bars- and call ahead warnings if anyone was starting to cause trouble- so I heard a few on that, but nothing big/close enough for me to get called in.
Several of my co-workers who were a bit more up for a scrap (I’m a not-especially threatening woman) worked in venues where a proper fight was pretty well routine though. I’m not sure how bad they got, exaggeration was clearly common, but we had one guy who insisted on wearing a stab vest at all times (I thought that was overkill until I got to know him) but again, the only actual injuries of my co-workers during the time I worked there were during a football match.
Great typo. That’s about how good the punch(es) were too.
