# Royal Wedding Madness

At the college where I teach, the receptionist is British and quite the fan of the Royal Family. She found banners with pictures of the Royal couple, including one huge-ass picture (about 5 feet by 5 feet) of the couple, and has hung these all around the reception desk area.
Nobody really minds - it is only for the next couple of days, the receptionist is a sweet woman and it is actually kind of funny to see a reception desk in Las Vegas covered with pictures and banners of the Royal couple.
Then there was the conversation yesterday:
Student 1: Who are they?
Student 2. I donno - is it Donnie and Marie?
Receptionist: NO! It is not Donnie and Marie, that is Prince William and Kate Middleton!!
Student 1: Did they die?
Receptionis: NO, they are getting married Friday!
Student 2: Are they students here?
Our receptionist is still muttering to herself.

I forwarded the link of the souvenir Harry and Kate mug to our receptionist - that should pretty much set her over the edge today - thanks!

I’d love one of those mugs for a friend who collect royals memorabilia. It would fit right in with her commemorative plate for Edward VIII’s coronation.

The “Harry and Kate” mugs were totally deliberate. I wish I’d thought of it - the people that set up the site got so much free publicity after tipping off the press and have apparently taken tens of thousands of orders from people who think they’re getting a rare error. People who would never dream of buying an ordinary souvenir mug are paying £10 plus postage for them. 😃

Does the royal family really approve these products for sale to the public? Have they no standards at all? Do they at least test the barf bags for strength and odor control?

I wish I could take credit for these, but someone told me about a couple of tweets they saw on Twitter. One said something like: “Tonight, millions of single women will go home, look at their cat and say: ‘You’re still my prince’.”
The other one said something about not seeing so many queens in one place since that party at Elton John’s.

Are you sure they weren’t just sending her up?
That’s what I would be tempted to do if I saw someone obsessing about the wedding of some foreign royalty.

Who said anything about being approved? Anyone can sell any old tat with “royal wedding” written on it. It’s not like the Olympics. 😉

Yes, it’s only if it says “official tableware supplier to the palace” or similar that it has to be approved.
