POME most commonly refers to prisoner of mother england. It was either on this board or snopes or both that actually debunked that theory. Still aussies and kiwi’s regularly refer to the english as Pomes. My friends from that part of the world often combine it into an endearment with pommy bastard ---

WOW! I am enjoying this quite a bit. As previously mentioned, it was never meant as racist. Living here in the land down under, I spend an awful lot of time with Kiwis, Aussies, and Brits. We enjoy a very friendly rivalry, usaully oriented more around sporting than anything else. None of the Brits here take any offense to the term pom or pommie, and usually have as much fun as the rest of us. But actually, the biggest rivalry is not America vs Britain, it is Australia vs Britain. As such, we still carry on with our fun down here, and I hope that you someday learn to enjoy life, too. But I will apologise if it did offend you, but that kind of supports my statement, anyway. And also as previously mentioned, I love the cockney accent, I have found that the people I know with the cockney accent are much more fun to be around. However, how they can drink so much I will never understand. On their worst day, they can drink me under the table on my best day. Anyway, cheers, I do not normally visit the Pit, as I enjoy more friendly debates. ---

Kumquat, The Aussies and I have a lot of fun with accents, though. But admittedly, when it comes to international sporting, America really lags behind. Therefore, I have to avoid the sporting rivalries. Being that I am not a snobby snot, I do not mind good natured joking, as I live with it every day of my life. If you prefer to be a like that, well, that is your own personal problem, not mine. The reason I do not visit the Pit is I do not enjoy hateful attacks as much as I do friendly rivalries and debates. You will also note that I do not use profanity, especially directed towards another person. It is called courtesy and respect. Anyway, you can take your angry little brainless head and pull it out of your smelly fat anus and try learning to enjoy life again.
