**Dio’s** pain (or lack thereof) aside, I’m still not sure whether conservatives in general are feeling _too_ good about this. Granted, they **should** feel good ( **Sarahfeena** has had the reaction most like what I thought was appropriate), but there seems to be this underlying belief that the November '10 **and**'12 elections have already been decided in favor of Republicans, Obama will never get anything done ever again, health care reform is dead permanently and forevermore, etc. I mean, it’s a victory for Republicans, to be sure, but I don’t see that it’s as big a victory as their reactions seem to think… ---

They said all the same crap in '94 after the Republicans won back both Houses. Clinton was dead in the water. Newt Gingrich said he was “irrelevant,” etc. Then Clinton stomped their asses in '96, and really dominated the Republicans even while they had the majority. It’s normal for the loser party after a Presidenbtial election to get some Congressional gains in the following off-year elections. It’s a turnout thing. It is no indication at all of wher things will go with the President. Obama 's approval ratings are still well above 50%, which is remarkable during a recessipn. He’s not going anywhere. This thread is like a Packers fan going into an office full of Vikings fans after winning a monday night game and dancing around taunting them, and chanting “Go, Pack Go” while everyone else is trying to work. ---
