Well, yes, once, but I can’t prove it . . . I sold **elucidator** the negatives . . . most of them . . .

He’s another one jumping on the “Republicans have to change their message” bandwagon. One of them will get the nomination in 2016. But they and the “double down on principles” crew are going to tear each other up until at least 2014 before that reality sinks in.

Oooooh, I like the way you think but I think it may be one cycle too early.

And Jeb will most assuredly run in 2016. I’m also not so convinced the Bush name is total poison to the Republican party base.

I still don’t understand the undying fascination with Jeb Bush. I know he has links to the Hispanic community and he was the governor of Florida - although of course you could have given the Republicans Florida in 2008 and 2012 and they still wouldn’t have come close to winning - and he’s got links to the Hispanic community, but that really doesn’t sound like enough to me. And he seems to be changing his mind about immigration reform a bit.

Yep, one should never forget the crazification factor. 😃

> [@](#):
>
> Crazification factor is a neologism coined by blogger John Rogers to refer to the portion of the electorate comprising the nuttiest of the wingnuts and the batshit crazy. In Rogers’ words:
>
> “Obama vs. Alan Keyes. Keyes was from out of state, so you can eliminate any established political base; both candidates were black, so you can factor out racism; and Keyes was plainly, obviously, completely crazy. Batshit crazy. Head-trauma crazy. But 27% of the population of Illinois voted for him. They put party identification, personal prejudice, whatever ahead of rational judgement. Hell, even like 5% of Democrats voted for him. That’s crazy behaviour. I think you have to assume a 27% Crazification Factor in any population.”[1]

The fascination is the recognition that there is an extremely well-financed power center that is activated whenever any Bush is mentioned. And it’s honestly hard to argue with the theory that a faction that could get Dubya elected should never be underestimated. Jeb doesn’t seem particularly bright, but compared to his brother he’s Richard Feynman.

Exactly this. And the fact he is pretty much the only Republican at this point with national name recognition who is capable of making a speech or being interviewed and not instantly alienating 50.1% of the voting public.

Of course, maybe those two things go hand in hand.

I don’t like to think of it as _correcting_ you so much as offering an inside-the-Tallahassee “beltway” viewpoint.

Either way ole Jeb will put on a hell of a show, but would be toast in a 2016 election.

Paleocons are all about restricting immigration and scaling down federal government and social conservatism. How do you think Tea Partiers feel about those things?

Holy crap you almost gave me a heart attack! I was worried for a second this fool wouldn’t be eligible to run for President. Thankfully it looks like both his parents were U.S. citizens just working in Canada at the time of his birth.

As for the Tea Party folks - I doubt they will have any problem finding a reason why his situation is different. I just hope he ends up somewhere on the ticket in 2016 or 2020. His obnoxious nutbaggery would pretty much guarantee a Republican defeat.

**Paul/Cruz 2016** , yeah that’s the ticket!
