Like Lincoln. Columbus I could understand, but George Washington doesn’t even remotely scan with any of the other add-ons (reindeer, like a lightbulb, like “Dummy”, like football, yippee!). I’m a Kentucky girl. ---

I grew up in western PA, and we sang “Like Lincoln!” I don’t understand how Columbus or George Washington would be sung, there’s too many syllables! ---

May I just ask, in all seriousness, what the buggery flip are you talking about? Is this a common thing? 🙂 The ‘poem’ ends with “his-tor-eeee” to rhyme with “glee”. I’ve never, ever heard even a sniff of anything different - how does it even fit into the melody structure? (I’m in the UK, BTW). Please explain… ---
