I’ve got no problem with mentioning people’s quirky features. Most folks have something unusual about their looks. That’s exactly why I don’t usually call people ‘ugly’ – one or two quirky feature doesn’t equal ‘ugly.’ It’s those quirks that make us look like us. The OP didn’t say that Rumer had a big chin; she said the girl was unattractive. I think that’s harsh (and inaccurate). ---

Alright, I’ll out the elephant in the living room: **MizGrand** , you may be feeling better about the trainwreck, and I’m glad for that, but I don’t think a lot of us are. To be totally honest, if \*\*Guin \*\*or \*\*Diosa \*\*or **Kythereia** had started this thread, we might have gotten some juicy sweet gossip trash-talking out of it. But it’s not going to go that way for you, I fear. That level of discourse requires a comfortability with all the trashtalkers involved that we (okay, _I_, I can’t speak for others) don’t feel towards you right now. All you’re going to get is hostility and resistance. And, frankly, you’re trying too hard and it’s a little embarrassing. ---

[/QUOTE] No clue, nor Bruce Willis, whose always reminded me a little of my uncle - who is not sexy. I think famous people become beautiful because they are famous. Cameron Diaz is funny looking. Julia Roberts is horsey. Reese Witherspoon does have an odd chin. Keira Knightley would be much prettier with another fifteen pounds on her frame. Yet all these women are considered beauties. (I think Nicole Kidman in her prime and Brad Pitt are classically beautiful people - Ms. Kidman’s gotten a little too “thin for her age” and it makes her face look taut. But I think part of what she has done is fairly carefully controlled her image - there aren’t a lot of candid photo’s of Nicole Kidman looking half asleep and slouching at a party - or grocery shopping in a sweatsuit, no makeup, and flip flops) Then you get their children. Children of people with the reputation of being beautiful are not necessarily born beautiful - and yet people expect them to be beautiful. They do get some advantages (access to stylists and money) us average folk don’t get. But they also get a lot more comments about how they look (and behave) than us average folk do. I’ve never gotten the slamming of Chelsea Clinton - who is not a classically beautiful woman and was a rather awkward looking teenager. But, so what? ---

He’s a cute enough kid, but that’s about it. I suppose, though, that it might seem weird, to the Willis girls, to have a stepfather who’s so young and still within the hotness parameters of other girls their age. ---

My point was simply that if someone known to be lighthearted and fun and not carrying excess Doper-baggage and ill-will right now was to start this thread, I might have answered differently. Seemed only honest to point that out - it’s not the topic of the thread that’s going over like a lead balloon, it’s the poster. IMHO, of course and I can only speak for my own reaction. I wasn’t going to mention it. I was going to post my defense of poor libeled Rumer, who isn’t ugly in the slightest, and leave it at that. But then **MizGrand** ’s desperate-sounding “but what about Ashton? I mean, yukkers! Don’t you agree? Really? Isn’t he icky? Please validate me and pretend we’re bff!” post triggered me. I felt like simply ignoring it (which was my first instinct, and maybe I should have stopped there) was doing a disservice to **MizGrand**. Sure, she can still point to me (us) and say I’m (we’re) big meanies, but my hope is that she’ll start making the connection that her actions have further reaching consequences than she thinks. She’s poisoned the well against me, in particular. I’m totally sincere in my wish that she finds happiness, but I feel a pit of anger and ick in my stomach when I see her username (the new one) and it \*does \*influence how I read her posts and how I respond, even to a seeming fluff thread. She did that, and she deserves to know it. I’m working on that universal forgiveness thing, really I am, but I’m only human too. And as long as that’s the case, I try to be honest with myself and others as to where I’m coming from and how it’s coloring my interactions with people. And, for the record, I find Ashton Kutcher pretty when he’s not talking, but as soon as he opens his mouth, I find him rather disgusting as a human being. Bruce Willis doesn’t do much for me on a pure physical level, but he does have a charisma that I find attractive on film, and I bet I’d find even more so in person. ---

**Dangerosa** , I agree with you completely. I have a friend who had extremely attractive parents. Her mother was very petite with very delicate features. Her father was a very tall big boned man with very masculine handsome features. She got a little of both and it didn’t translate well. She has her mothers small delicate eyes and mouth and her fathers strong nose and gets lost on a large face. She has her father’s large boned frame on a small body like her mother. That’s what you see with this girl. She has Demi’s delicate eyes, nose and mouth lost on a rather oblong Bruce Willis head. She might be a lovely girl but she’s not particular attractive. She’s a favorite topic at a lot of the gossip sites, and I feel sort of bad for her. And\*\* WhyNot\*\*, very nicely said. ---
