You can get Battlefield 1942 free on origin in their demos section of their client. Still a pretty great game 10 years later - you’ll have to edit some ini files for high res. Still people playing - if you give a game a proper client-server architecture, and it’s a classic, people will play it for 20 years. ---

For people getting the THQ pack, my personal recommendation is that you get the [Stalker Complete Mod](http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009). And the game works – religion and espionage and all 🙂 As a bonus, you get $5 off a future Amazon digital purchase for a 2012 GOTY game starting next January – effectively making this G&K for $2.50.
