Yes, there’s pain and itching and I can’t tell which one is worse. The Ortho said to see him in 10 - 14 days when he’ll remove the splint and put me into a walking boot (assuming all looks normal).

Itching is pretty miserable!!

Be generous with using the pain meds for the first 24 hours or so - better to interrupt that before it has a chance to develop into Very Real Pain.

Home now. Of course I meant 3 hours. Surgeon said it went well. He used a combination of the Krackow knot and some other. I will take aspirin daily to prevent blood clots and an antibiotic for 2 days. I also have percoset as needed although I’m hoping to avoid them. I’ll see once the pain wears off from the local anesthesia.

Glad things went well, Jackknifed Juggernaut. What’s the next milestone? Follow up appt, I assume. My friend didn’t start PT for about three weeks, if I remember correctly.

I’ve never had to deal with it myself, but you usually want to stay ahead of the pain. If you wait until you need the pills, it’s harder to deal with.

For me, the challenge will be to not re-injure myself over the next 10-14 days until my next appt. Going up and especially down stairs with crutches while being on painkillers is going to be tough. Since the doc said that intends on putting me in a walking boot next time, I assume PT will begin as well. Don’t know yet. I’m also dreading the $30 co-pay for each PT session. With my entire deductible still to be used plus the upcoming PT, prior ER and surgeon visits, this is one expensive injury. To counter that, I won’t be spending any money at bars and on dates for a while!
