Rush: Tom Sawyer

I’m pretty certain ‘Afterimage’ is in 5/4 as well.

But yumpin yiminy! Half the damn songs change time sigs about 5000 times!

Shouldn’t your nick be ‘astroGIRL14’ then?

Getting back to the OP, if I may speculate a bit:

Tom Sawyer (the character) was into fantasy adventures, so today’s Tom Sawyer is “a modern day warrior” in his imagination. When I was a kid I spent a lot of time by “thuuuu ri-ver” and it became my imaginary battlefield. I believe “the space he invades…” is a reference to video games (Space Invaders for you young’uns), and “he gets high on you” is pretty obvious (you can leave out the “on you”).
Most of the lyrics are pretty vague, but that’s my interpretation.

Nope, although it does have its time changes that are hard to figure out. (It’s funny. Of the two Rush CDs I have at work, one was “Moving Pictures”, which was useful for the OP, and “Hemispheres”, which has Circumstatnces on it.)

This song had a large section that was definately a 3-beat/2-beat.

muppetsoup, if I had a feminine side, I’d be home touching it right now!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I only said that because it seems like its usually women who like Rush until they hear the voice. Nothing personal <grumble> I suppose…
