Note this occurred on August 24th which is Ukraine’s independence day. The day everybody feared a massive Russian attack. ---

Illia Ponomarenko summarises the reasons the Russians have used for the stalls and setbacks of their invasion: > “It was a feint" - Russian milbloggers after the abandonment of Russia’s plan to capture Kyiv and their subsequent withdrawal from northern Ukraine. “It was a goodwill gesture” - After abandoning Snake Island, following repeated Ukrainian strikes on it. “We’re deliberately slowing down to reduce civilian casualties” - Shoigu today. “We haven’t really started anything yet” - Putin at the beginning of July (“Everyone should know that we have not started in earnest yet”). ---

By my rough calculation, if the Russian invasion continues at its current pace, it will take Russia up to 150 years to conquer Ukraine. ---

Apparently Russia wasn’t able to fire a bombardment of cruise missiles on Ukraine’s Independence Day. Perhaps the recent airfield attacks made launching them more difficult. Russia did lose some bombers.
