About the only person who doesn’t think of him as a fool anymore is Trump, and possibly some true believers in his inner circle.

When the Pentagon says “untenable”, do they mean “politically untenable”? Isn’t that above their pay grade? Perhaps they just don’t want to come out and say that their analysts have determined that such a transfer would have little or no efficacy in the war. Perhaps even a negative effect on NATO plans the public and the Ukrainians don’t even know about.

isnt that a bit like spreading photos of you in a Totenkopf-SS-Uniform, in early spring of 1945?
(I see a lot of backpedalling and 'xplaining in the future, and am amazed how little we do learn (on a more aggregate level))

What makes you think that the average Russian will ever change their mind on this issue? In addition to the propaganda effect of state controlled radio and tv and cutting off access to twitter, facebook etc., there is the intrinsic support that a citizen always feels to some extent for their own country. I think that the narractive that it’s the Ukrainians who are bombing, and the West applying sanctions to destroy Russia, will likely have major popular support in Russia. “If our economy collapses, it’s not Putin’s fault, it’s the West’s fault!” “If the Ukrainians defeat our troops, it’s because NATO is helping!” etc.
Putin has always pulled in massive vote support. Those elections are likely rigged, and opposition candidates need state approval, but even taking those factors into account, Putin has been popular in Russia.

Latest news is reporting that there is a cold front moving across parts of Ukraine that will plummet temperatures to -20 Celsius. The Russians in the Kyiv convoy are going to be really cold considering that if they run their tanks or vehicles on idle, they’d still be consuming lots of fuel just by running the engine.

I feel the same way. Kennedy was the one guy that called out the Soviet Union’s bluff. Blockade Cuba and got the missiles removed.
Putin and his generals want to live as much as we do. No one is suggesting that we directly engage them. We do need to help Ukraine. Russia would benefit tremendously from Ukraine’s ports and resources. A stronger Russia is not in anyones best interest.

Putting the MiGs in a large transport aircraft would be even worse. Where is that big transport going to land - Kyiv airport? And it’s even more noticeable than the MiGs themselves.
