Maybe they did shoot the foreman and workers (or send them off to get shot), and those were the guys in charge of making the bullets not fall apart. ---

I mean, they _were_ terrified of him, but they also loved and worshipped him. Fear wasn’t what motivated them to win WW2. ---

You misunderstand: they feared Stalin, but they loved him, too. I’ll readily agree that fear can help keep a dictator in power, at least to a point. But that doesn’t make it a motivator - in fact, one could say that fear does the exact opposite, by _demotivating_ people from rebelling. Fear of a dictator can’t motivate people to actually succeed in difficult tasks, like run a competent government, or drive an efficient economy, or win a war. All it can do is maintain the status quo. ---
