Maybe we could send some nukes down there. You know, just in case some horrible prehistoric monstrosity climbs out of the hole, eats all the scientists, and threatens to overrun the world. 'Cause that would kinda suck.

It turns out the dinosaurs were wiped out by a particularly nasty cold. And a dino booger is going to come up through the hole. The cockroaches will laugh and laugh about that a million years from now.

I just have one question I don’t understand how it is possible to be a lake, shouldn’t it be frozen also?

It is frozen over, by many thousands of feet. This is why it’s pristine.
It would be a terrible tragety to contaminate something this valuable.

Of course, it would also be a terrible tragedy for us to never understand what’s in that lake, if anything.
