I don’t know why, but theis made me laugh. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, which is a group against corporate lawyers suing fan sites and the like, is going to stage some sort of party to raise funds. Wil Wheaton, a supporter, will be there, and fight a man in a Barney suit-a tribute to [a famous Internet battle](http://www.grudge-match.com/History/barney-wesley.shtml). Although I don’t know if Wil will be mangled and/or killed. ---

Wil Wheaton is a decent actor-ever see him in _Stand by Me_ when he was a kid? Plus he’s funny as hell-read his website. He’d make a pretty good Doper, I think. ---

Hey I have never been much of a Wesley Crusher fan but that is Roddenberry’s fault not Wheaton’s. Had he been written right it could have been a good character but that is water under the bridge. The guy was obviously enthused about getting a part in the movie and I think it kinda sucks to have that pulled out from under him like that. He deserves better than that. I hope his material shows up on the DVD I for one will want to watch it. I’m surprised at the people being nasty about this news though. Wil if you are lurking out there don’t worry most real fans know the difference between a real person acting and a character they are portraying. Hang in there You’ll get your chance again with Trek someday I’m sure. ---

Eh, as long as the movie itself as good and the adhere to the timeline I don’t really care about him. I won’t miss the Wesley scenes on the DVD. Wesley Crusher was a poorly conceived and poorly written character. Wil Wheaton, of course, is a good guy. I always recognized that the crappiness of Wesley was due primarily to bad writing, not bad acting (Hint #1: Never have the kids saving the adult’s asses. Hint #2: Don’t do it _several_ times). ---
