The ending sequence of **"The Incredible Shrinking Man"** (I’d consider this a “guy movie” and an action movie) Most people think of this ending as spiritual and uplifting but it is still very sad (to me anyway). Sorry for no spoiler boxes but most folks have seen the movie. After all the struggles he goes through in his cellar, he never returns to normal size and even worse he continues to shrink. And of course everyone in the normal-sized world has long given him up for dead. ---

When he wakes up at night and realizes that there was no chance he could win, but if he simply lasted to the end he would prove his value to himself. Good scene. ---

My son and husband did _not_ get all teary-eyed when **The Iron Giant** flew up in the air with the bomb. They did _not_ swallow heavily when he said, “I’m Superman!” as he soared away. It was a cartoon and men do not get all choked up over a cartoon. Nope. Not at all. Don’t even ask them about it.
