I hadn’t been reading to Nazi thread and didn’t know what this thread was about - I just saw it growing. Now I can see why! Wow, so glad to hear your wife is on the mend **sailboat**! She is indeed a hero, standing up for beliefs…that we shouldn’t have to stand up to defend. But such are these times, so it is appreciated. ---

Thanks all. Here is [MY caregiver](https://flic.kr/p/TjiM5o). Also my [grief counselor](https://flic.kr/p/Xwo1As). Also my [exercise program](https://flic.kr/p/QdaXif). Luna is on her best behavior right now. Despite her energy level and the likely frustration of being alone more than usual, she is making every effort to be a good girl. So I have to make the long drive home from the hospital to take care of her, but really we’re taking care of each other. ---

**sailboat** , I so admire your grit and grace in facing down a truly horrendous situation. In addition to the beautiful love you obviously have for your wife, your first thoughts have been for all those who have been adversely affected and damaged by this disgusting episode. Your good character and that of your wife are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your news – it is a huge relief to learn your wife is recovering well, though simultaneously sad that she must go through this at all. My best wishes and thoughts continue for you both… with special scritches to your grief counselor. ---

I have been following this event with tears in my eyes. Even more so since I saw this thead. I don’t always post a lot here, (look at my join date v # of posts) but the people here are very important to me. I’ve been sending good positive thoughts (and prayers, since I am one of those progressive Christian unicorns) to sailboat and spouse. Also, it gave me a good STFU to someone who told me to “Stop worrying about stuff happening in the USA, its not as though its affecting you personally” “Actually it is. One of the women who was hit, her husband and I have mutual friends.” Anyway I am going to an anti racism anti nazi rally/ march/hug-in on Saturday. Bringing my 13 year old SJW with me. We shall overcome. And dopers, is anyone taking a collection for the First Mate? If you don’t want a gofundme then is there a person who knows sailboat IRL to whom I can email or paypal a small donation? ---
