# Sailor, a moment please

This has been bothering me all night. So **Sailor** , are you hoping for another twin towers type ass-kicking or what? How about a bunch more dead American soldiers? Since we all know Bush isn’t going to get what’s coming to him for starting this stupid war in the first place, I can’t imagine what you hope will happen. Just who is it that you are advocating kicking?
I feel this President has hijacked this country and I am powerless to stop it. Other then voting out the bastard this November I don’t know what else I can do.
But I’m a target. I live and work minutes from Washington, DC and I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. When it happens, will you say I got what was coming to me?

read **sailor’s** post again. He is saying that he can see why some Iraqi would be pissed off. I can understand why some Americans were really really angry after 9/11 to the extent that some (even on this board) called for huge retaliatory actions even to the level of nuclear actions. I can understand this anger without _hoping_ that it happens.

I wouldn’t want to presume to speak for sailor but I don’t think he was hoping for violence anywhere.
I think he was just saying the current situation is likely to end up with more violence because some Iraqis are only getting angrier and more frustrated. More Americans (and others) are dying as a direct result.

If there is but one sure thing about war, it’s this… it always has, without fail, shitloads upon shitloads of unpredicted consequences.
And in particular, the Iraq/Syria/Kurdistan/Lebanon quadrant is as volatile as they come. I’m pretty safe in saying, especially after Sailor’s incredible efforts recently after the Madrid bombings, that he is one person who is all too aware of this inalieable truth.
To accuse Sailor of wishing for certain consequences out of war is wrong. He’s not that kind of guy. However, he’s smart enough to know all about the unintended and unpredicted consequences. You can’t get angry at him for that.

I’m sorry, but I can’t read that in the quote you posted. “I understand why my neighbor A is so pissed about my neighbor B that he could want to beat the crap out of him” doesn’t mean “I hope neighbor A will beat the crap out of neighbor B”.

Well, he does seem to pop up in any thread dealing with Iraq, however tangentially, and interjects his view that the Coalition’s accidental casualties are never an accident. It’s very predictable and at this point I just screen him out.

I lived in DC for about 15 years but I sold my house there and right now I am in Spain although I still have my boat in Annapolis and expect to return within the next month or two. For the past 18 years I have spent most of my time in DC but traveled often to Europe and Asia.
I seem to bring bad luck because I was in DC on 9/11, in Madrid on 3/11 and in Guangdong, China when the chicken flu broke out there. I expect Interpol might become suspicious of me any day. 🙂
I love DC, there’s no place like it. And I love the Chesapeake. Beautiful place and wonderful sailing. (Well, there would be wonderful sailing if there was any wind but that’s another rant.)

I think it’s pretty easy to reach that conclusion from your quote. I said easy, I didn’t say it was right which is why I asked for clarification. You’d like to see America be “defeated and humiliated” because it is the aggressor. I assume what you really mean is that you’d like to see Bush get his ass kicked. Unfortunately, he’s put us all in the position of taking his beating for him. When the shit finally hits the fan so to speak, I doubt he’ll be the one getting hit by the spray.
I opened a new thread because the dog kicking one had already been hijacked enough. I thought that was common policy around here.

Kiger - Ive never seen sailor imply what you have suggested. However i agree with the dog kicking metaphore - from the pov of an Iraqi.

I am afraid I have no knowledge as I have never chartered in Spain. I have done all my sailing crewing with friends but I am sure sailing magazines would have a lot of adverts. I don’t want to sidetrack this thread but there are many very different sailing areas (Med, Atlantic etc.) I really can’t help you much with finding a charter but if you want to email me we can chat.

I think there are more than a few people who are definitely dim after this thread and the other were opened. Sailor never said such a thing and if some of you would leverage your fucking reading skills, hold your jerking knees down, and out your thinking caps on, you’d see that.
