salt craving

I too love the taste of salt. And all my life I tested low for blood pressure. I wouldn’t like a salt lick, but I did love salty snacks. Mmmm salt.

Right up until I was hospitalized with hypertension urgency, which came pretty close to giving me a stroke. That habit, of eating lots of salt, hadn’t really helped. There were no real warning signs, it was just out of the clear blue sky. Very scary. I’ve you’re over 40-45yrs old, I’d think hard about your chosen path.

It is especially challenging to go onto a strict low sodium diet when you’ve inured yourself to that salty taste, with everything. When I was in hospital, on the cardiac ward, the food was entirely low fat, low sodium - and it was well and truly awful. There has been a period of adjusting to way, way less salt. How I cook, pretty much everything, has changed! It’s an ongoing process and I’m still learning.
