I saw a guy in the grocery store buying salt & pepper potato chips (Shearers). I asked if they were good, he said yes, so I tried them. Now I will not go back to regular. These are great! Anyone else try these? ---

We bought the Herrs brand on a whim because they were on sale, and they are so delicious. I think the bag was gone in one night. ---

I’ve tried Snyder’s of Hanover’s Black Pepper chips and they’re the nazz. The Salt & Pepper chips by Utz, however, were nasty and I ended up giving them to my chickens. ---

Is there a taste difference between Salt & Pepper chips and just putting pepper on regular chips? If not, I’m going with the latter, 'cause I like my pepper fresh-ground. Also, on a related note, I remember buying some chips a few years ago in upstate New York that were, for lack of a better term, well-done. As in, deliberately burned, so that they were mostly brown and had that yummy burned-chip flavor. Does anyone know what I’m talking about, and if so, are they still made? Because those kicked ass. ---

My boss loves the salt and pepper chips. I have not yet tried them since I’m still pining for salt and vinegar ones. I may filch a salt and pepper chip from her next time. ---

The “Cracked Peppercorn” potato chips by Tim’s Cascade Snacks are great. In addition to the salt and pepper, I think they also have some garlic on them, which rounds out the flavor nicely. ---

And what about Salt and Pepper fried-chicken-skins? There’s nothing quite like it. Salty, oily, crunchy chicken skins, covered in spicy pepper. (Hmm, I can’t find that orgasm smiley…) mmmm… 😛 ---

Then I guess my husband is SOL because he’s not going to be able to have fried chicken for quite some time. I will send him some salt/pepper chips to try, though. ---

Yes! Those are delicious. I think they are called kettle-cooked chips. I can’t think of a brand name right now, but next time I’m in Publix supermarket I’ll see if I can find some and report back. Here in the NE USA, we have “Old Bay” chips. Mmm…mmmm, good. Salt ‘n’ Peppa good. Old Bay awesome. ---

Utz makes a “Carolina Barbeque” chip in a light blue bag. They are so vinegary. I really like them. I find the S&P chips a little dull. The pepper doesn’t add too much. Not to hijack too bad (we could probably start a new forum about weird chips) but growing up I remember Humpty Dumpty (a NE chip company) made “Pickle Chips” and “Ketchup Chips”. In Maryland, you can find “crab chips” which I think are mainly “old bay chips”. I’m a BBQ and S&V fan myself. ---

Humpty Dumpty used to be in Scarborough ME, just south of Portland. You could smell potatoes frying for miles along Route 1 as you approached. We used to go to their Factory Store and buy chips from them, they had an amazing variety: Clam flavored, Pickle, Salt & Vinegar, Ketchup, Jalapeno pepper… ::sigh:: The factory is gone now. They got bought out by a Canadian company and the chips are made in Quebec now, and they’re not the same at all. ---

I just tried Lays _Limon_ chips last week, and boy they’re yummy. Way better than Salt & Vinegar. Problem is, I don’t think they’ll be too popular so they’re not going to last long. ---

Here’s another vote for Miss Vickie’s Lime and Black Pepper. Lay’s makes a salt and black pepper which is sublime, but sub lime. ---
