# Salvation army... Five years down the drain

Just to recap something mentioned before, in work-at-will states being simply told “you’re gone, bud” and \*escorted \*out, with any explanation being provided well after the fact if at all and even then only most cursorily and with no right to hear your side, **IS** “normal”. No margin for the dignity of the now former employee, and that does rub many of us wrong. But that is itself a product of our litigious society: say nothing that may be quoted and establish for the record that _everyone’s_ exit looks the same regardless of the why of the sacking, since you can be let go for just cause _or_ “just because”, and it’s equally legit, we won’t treat you any better either way. Ain’t worklife grand.
