In Germany, during the rise of Nazism, there were real live socialists who opposed Hitler and attacked Nazis in the street: OG Antifa. Sam is all, “They only made things worse!” as though without their opposition, Nazism would have been slowed down. It’s a poisonous and stupid case to make, but he’s not equating Nazism with socialism. ---

In the last day, we’ve had one of our board conservatives argue (apparently in all seriousness) that a conspiracy could, undetected, manufacture and mail 200,000 fake ballots in three days in the most heavily-watched election in the world; and another board conservative–again, in apparent sincerity–ask whether Dopers want to throw people in prison for being Trump supporters; and a third board conservative–I want to emphasize the sincerity here–cite in support of the second one a clip of a moron from a crank movie _from 2014_, before Trump was president. I know some of y’all think I’m too mean to conservatives, but fucking hell, come get your people. ---
