Until he acknowledges how and who manipulated him into believing the big lie about Rachel Carson, the conclusion is that Sam also does not really bother to demand better from his sources. That also means that one has to assume that no good faith arguments will come from Sam. (and that is what I have seen coming from him when science supports things that the memos from the right say that they should demonize) One has to conclude that in the end he (like many of the misinformed from the right) continues to see Rachel Carson defenders, and other environmentalists and climate change science proponents too, as mass murderers. So does the right of today manipulate their readers or viewers into believing that is then justified to push bad faith arguments into others that already checked the facts better. ---

What Stone means when he refers as elsewhere to this and a “conversation on the Right” is conversation in the sewer swamps of the far right and Trumpist collabos. Cause none of the non-Trump butt-licking Republicans were discussing this shit. Stone piously pretending the far right fucking sewers he obviously frequents and channels are normal is obnoxious. Next up if he follows the pattern here, he comes in all butt-hurt and complaining the Left is mean to him like a whiny little kid (except I am not on the fucking Left) Willing fools like him have helped ruin the Republican party. ---

That probably refers to the charge that Carson, as a result of “Silent Spring” was responsible for millions of human deaths from malaria due to the banning of DDT (for full-blown hyperbole, she’s even been described as “the greatest female mass murderer of the 20th century”). This is largely but not entirely a claim made by right-wing sources. It overlooks significant chunks of reality, including the fact that “Silent Spring” was not opposed to all uses of modern insecticides, but highlighted the harm caused by indiscriminate spraying of chlorinated hydrocarbon formulations in western countries such as the United States. > **[Column: Rachel Carson, 'mass murderer'? I think the most damning counter-narrative against this attack on Carson is that DDT has largely been rendered useless against malaria mosquitoes **because** of its indiscriminate use, in the same way that broad-scale penicillin use has created resistance in infections. ---
