I’d be shocked to find “abhors” on my [**cool words**](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/cool-words/922827) thread.

It’s discordant to my ears.

By the way, ISTR that nature _stopped_ abhorring vacuums sometime around the Hoover administration (The red hats read “MVCA”)
