I was all set to be devil’s advocate and defend Pat a bit, saying maybe his goal was to save lives because less people would die in an assassination than an invasion, but then I actually saw the footage. He only mentions that it would _save money_, and says nothing at all about saving lives. ---

The guys state Republicans are helping to elect to run Virginia are both Robertson’s golden boys and water carriers, especially the AG candidate McDonnell. At least this beats praying that Supreme Court justices will die of natural causes. ---

Pat Robertson and his ilk are more of a danger to the integrity of this nation than Chavez and Venezuela. Sometimes it boggles the mind how un-Christian some so called Christians can really be. ---

If the choices are assassinating a head of state where one person dies, and an invasion where many more people die, it could be argued that the assassination is the lesser of two evils. On that basis I _might_ have defended Robertson, at least partially. But I’m not, because the third option of doing neither seems to be appropriate, where nobody dies. Plus, Pat himself only said he was for the assassination because it saved money. The fuck didn’t even give lip service to idea that it would save lives. ---

Given that invading Venezuela because it’s run by Hugo Chavez is well beyond the galaxy harboring the solar system in which planet sanity revolves, I guess I had a hard time getting my head around that short list of options. ---

These people apparently have some trouble grasping the idea that they are on TV/Radio, and that recording devices exist for both of these. I was just thinking this very thing. “Christian” whackjobs like Robertson and his ilk will cause more damage to this country than any whackjob terrorist could ever dream of. Read Ben Bova’s _Jupiter_. It’s set at the end of this century when the “New Morailty” has taken over the world’s governments (substituting the appropriate religion in each country) and clamps down on anything deemed sacrireligious. ---
