San Francisco Restaurant Recommendations?

[QUOTE=LilShieste]
I highly recommend The Stinking Rose. My wife and I ate there with my parents this past weekend, and it was unbelievably good. We had it for lunch, but ended up having a small (and late) dinner because it was so filling.
I read the OP & came in specifically to recommend The Stinking Rose. Lots of personality & lots of garlic. Although there’s one in L.A., much closer to me, I always make a point to get there when I’m in S.F.

I was in SF in 1992. I ate at The Stinking Rose (excellent) and the Fog City Diner (also excellent) but the best meal was at a trattoria in North Beach (I’m sure there are several) This one was a corner storefront at the top of a hill (like that’ll help pin it down). My guess is that an off the main path trattoria in North Beach is going to offer excellent homemade traditional pasta dishes and some very yummy wine selections

Are you looking for Mexican Restaurants or taquerias? For the latter try the Mission District; you can’t throw a cat over there without hitting a decent taqueria.

A good mexican restaurant is Tommy’s on Geary and 23rd.

Sounds like Trattoria Contadina. Good place - I’ve eaten there several times.

Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone!

That sounds right. Thank you
