> Perhaps, but she wasn’t being an asshole and a liar to the owner of the restaurant. Had there been a sign that says “We don’t serve Republicans,” maybe it would have been fair.

Yes she was. She’s a liar and an asshole to the whole country multiple times per week.

This is obviously a subjective judgment, but it’s one that individuals are free to make.

Perhaps you don’t get the analogy.

> No, I’d say it’s more like discriminating against an actor who advocated for morally questionable actions in a documentary, while playing themselves. If Tom Hanks appeared in a documentary called “Kill All the Puppies” and the credits listed “Tom Hanks as himself” and, in the movie, he argued in favor of torturing puppies for fun… yeah I’d think twice about letting Tom Hanks eat in my restaurant.

She’s as much an actor as Sean Spicer was.

They wouldn’t make it if they thought it might be bad for business. If they think the customers will cheer them on, then they’ll sacrifice a customer like SHS. That’s what makes this dangerously close to pandering.

Ahh, I didn’t know you could read their minds. Some people actually act out of principle, hard as it is to believe. Regardless, it’s their right.

> I’d say it’s a pretty fine line there. Discriminating against an actor because they once played a villain on TV would be pretty unreasonable I would think. This is a lot closer to that.

That would actually be fine. You are allowed to discriminate against someone for that reason too. I think it would be odd, but it would not be illegal.

But, she is not an actor, she is a spokesperson for this administration. She is not acting, she really is lying and misleading the public. She really is representing a real administration, she’s not an actor on The West Wing.

I’m not fond of her either, although she does have a certain obstinate composure that her predecessor, Sean Spicer, lacked. I think that’s why people maybe liked Spicer more—they could see he was acting and didn’t really believe what he was saying. Sarah Sanders is an actor too, I’d say, but a more convincing one. I wonder how she sleeps herself with kinds of bullshit policies she has to defend. It still rubs me the wrong way if someone is going to be deliberately prejudiced toward her or any other celebrity they don’t like though. People may cheer the restaurant owner now, but those cheers may also come back to bite them.

I think she believes in some things she says, but I also think she says a lot of things she does not believe. Which is a key reason why some people dislike her so much, because they criticize her integrity.

4th request for a cite that a business has to serve a customer. A business is under no obligation to let someone in just because they, what you call, ‘a paying customer’.
If you don’t have proof you really shoudn’t be saying it, you’re not convincing anyone. Go find the law or right that you’re speaking about here and everyone will back off.

Define “bad for business”. Is shit flinging and death threats bad for business?

You still haven’t shown how SHS being an asshole exceeds the restaurant owner’s right to refuse service to anyone (when not based on SHS belonging to a protected class).

No cite necessary. It’s common sense that whenever you bar a customer, you risk shooting yourself in the foot. If your customers agree, then you’re in the clear, though you always risk alienating others. Shooting yourself in the foot is an analogy, by the way, for some that don’t quite understand metaphorical language.

Was SHS behaving like an asshole at this restaurant? Was she belligerent? All reports seem to indicate that both the owner and the customer handled the situation politely.

And yes, shit flinging and death threats I would think are bad for business.

Being an asshole generally isn’t an in-the-moment thing. Acting LIKE an asshole is.

Ms Sanders clearly has never worked in a restaurant, otherwise, she would be aware of the ways in which kitchen staff express their political or social anger.

Was the kitchen staff all Democrats? Are you suggesting they might, say, spit in the food? Don’t you think other customers might also be concerned if that were to happen?

Were the gay couple acting like assholes when they went in to order their cake?
