I’ll pronounce it any way I feel like it at the moment. Mostly ‘wooster-sher’ which is close to whichever alleged correct pronunciation you believe is the one. But I sometimes say ‘worst -chester-shire’ or even more exaggerated phraseology. None the less, if it’s not Lea and Perrins there’s no point in saying it at all. ---

The references to “Miracle Whip” above had me a little confused as I confused it with “Instant Whip” (aka Angel Delight"). This is whipped cream made from powder and for me, absolutely disgusting in taste and texture. Heinz Salad Cream is the nearest equivalent to Miracle Whip in the UK. btw: I live in Worcestershire and we pronounce it “Woostersheer” ---

Growing up, Miracle Whip was labelled as ‘salad dressing’. We always used it like mayonnaise… and I think that’s why people hate it. They think it’s supposed to be used like/as a replacement for mayonnaise. Yes, that’s how we used it when I was a kid; but no, that’s not how you’re supposed to use it. I’ve explained the sweet/savoury dynamic many times, primarily with SPAM® salad sandwiches. Miracle Whip has specific uses. I think people hate it because they think it’s a mayonnaise substitute. ---

Salad cream is sweeter than Miracle Whip but they are fairly similar. ---
